The first stop on our interrail was beautiful Italian city of Rome which is everyone's favourite for the obvious reasons!
The sun is shining, food is tasty, wine is cheap (and the boys are so cute..)

Where to stay in Rome

If you're travelling during high season it's worth to book accomondation well in advance to get the one you want. The prices don't always go hand in hand with the quality in my opinion.

If you have a favourite part of the city you know where to go but it's worth testing few different places. The location for me is the key since you will walk a lot around the city anyway I try to avoida spending too much time to get back to the hotel. You can also use the saved euros for little more expensive place is you wish. We spent one night in a hostel and other one couchsurfing and these both turned out to be very good.

My friend hasn't been to Rome before so we needed to do the obvious sightseeings as well as just enjoying the city more relaxed.

Things to do in Rome

There are so manu beautiful places to see in this historic town thats it's worth of going to check the main ones like Colosseum, Pantheon, spanish steps and Vatican city for sure!

During summer months the queues can hectic so try to book tickets online where possible or be on time before others to avoid wasting time.

Nicest way to see the city ang get good overall understanding is to walk but this will easily add up kilometers so prepare with good shoes and lots of water, it's worth the walk.

Summer interrail in Europe

The idea has been in the air with atleast few years with my best friend to do interrail accross Europe.

This is very convenient way to see many countries during the same trip and very flexible option since you can decide your own route and how much time you wish to spend.

We decided go over Eastern Europe from Rome to Helsinki in about 3 weeks but you can do what feels best for you!

Before interrail

Before heading out to your trip its good to have some kind of route in mind (of course flexible so adjustments can be made on the way) this helps you to organise reservation and possibility to calculate travel time so you can decide which is the best ticket to get.

Most important thing after this is to buy the right kind of ticket as you can choose from different options. There on Single Country tickets which include the travel in the country off your choice or the Global Pass in which you  only need to decide the amount of travel days during period of 1 month. Example in my ticket I have 10 travel days in 1 month but you could also opt for 7 or 15 days.

What to pack for interrail?

At this point you will be all excited but it's still time to think practical, what will you pack?
My answer for this is that it depends on the part of Europe where you are headed - North might be quite chill some day as the South part can be boiling hot in the summer months.

Also depends on how long will you be on the way. My advice for interrail packing is to keep it minimal since you will be carrying everything on your back.

I tried to pack things that can be used in multiple ways and go easily together to minimize amount of things.

Don't take too much stress since some things can be bought on the way but be prepared for all kind of weather!

On the rails - time to start interrail

Time for first move! I'm actually writing this while in the train from Rome to Firenze so officially on the rails and headed forward.

One thing that comes handy many times is the Rail Planner app you should install to your phone (also works offline so perfect!). You can find it for all phones i think. This will show you specific train times, connections and all you need to know.

Remember to fill in your ticket before each trip since this is the only ticket you will use.

I would advice to organise the next destinations accomondation in advance since this will save you a lot of stress after arriving.

This recommended to look for a place:

- Hostelworld
- Couchsurfing
- Airbnb
- Booking

We have tested so far a hostel and couchsurfing (thank you for our amazing host!!).

You know best the style you like to travel so work with this.

Next will up tips and photos from Rome which was the starting point for us.

If you have anything in mind or want to say hi please leave a comment :)

Hey!

One day it was time to do a day trip from the coast to beautiful Ubud and the famous rice terrace which is a Unesco site. You wouldn't even know from the road what is waiting for you just behing the first houses and I can tell you the view is impressive once you get off the street!

Then we were off to explore the fields!

It was such a green and somehow peaceful place and the first time I've seen something like this so it was very impressive and I would definately recommend to take the time and make this visit.

Part of friends said that they saw a quite huge spider in the field but I was lucky enough to miss this (or then I just didn't notice :D ) so keep your eyes open. I'm so scared of them that I'm just happy I avoided the heart attack.

Next I will be posting you about the beautiful Gili islands and our little escape to paradise so you will definately want to come back soon!

Heya!

After exploring Hong Kong for some days we were set to start next part of the journey and head to paradise island of Bali, Indonesia. The trip so far had been amazing so everyone was super excited to see how the paradise on earth was!!

We took the few hours flight with Garuda Indonesia which was also a very positive suprise as the service was on point and the seats definately comfiest so far! After the landing it was time to head to the villa we had rented on the coast. Should have definately taken more pics of the house which was just amazing with the terrace and the pool (if you need I'll give you the info for this).

We arrived quite late like little after 10pm and jumped straight in to the pool :D Sleep won shortly after so we would be fresh to explore more the next day and here are pics from adventures around paradise islan of Bali. Plenty of more paradise pics coming from the famous rice fields and the Gili islands so stay tuned!

Hey!

One must thing to see while in Hong Kong is the view of the Victoria Peak. The hill is on the Hong Kong island and you can definately not miss this!

Lots of people take the famous tram to go up hill but as I haven't booked a ticket in advance the queue look so horrible that it was necessary to come up with a other solution. That was set to be a taxi that happened to be near by so could easily get all the way to the top without a worry :D

Wanted to see the city during the day and also on the night lighting so picked a time for the visit on late afternoon. If you have limited amount of says I would recommend to visit as soon as you know the day is clear as the city seems to have fog more than often to block the views.

Enjoy!

Hello!

Happy weekend! Time for some more stories..

Temple Street Night Market

During the trip I enjoyed Hong Kong a lot also during the nights since the city is busy around the clock. One evening I decided to hit the Temple Street night market which you can find in Yau Ma Tei area on the mainland. The closest metros for this would be Yau Ma Tei or Jordan but decided to talk a walk from little further to see more of the city.

After the sunset it starts to be busy and all the sellers have got their stalls ready. You can find different kind of souveniers, art, toys and jewellery in the packed narrow street just to mention few.

I shopped a little and then focused on just enjoying the atmosphere and curiously looking around. Other than that the biggest thing I wanted to check the place out was the food. You can find you a table on the street in a little restaurant as in many places in Hong Kong. There were so many options that eventually stopped in a little place for a cool beer and some spring rolls (yummy!!).

You can feel the energy of the busy place and just sit there people watching which is one thing I enjoy a lot on my travels.

Rooftop view over Hong Kong

Later in the evening the best idea hit once it was time to make a decision is it time for bed or some more adventure. There has to be a way to get on the rooftop of the hotel! Which turned out to be true once taking the lift to the 38th floor and hopping few more floor up and once I got up it was just unbelievable view!

On one side you can see all the sky high houses that continue up the hill and on the other side you still had a view over the waterfront and the mainland. Even if I've lived and travelled some big cities now it hit me how many people live here and how huge it is!

It was something that definately doesn't realistically transfer through pictures but you understand me if you have seen a similiar one. It was a very warm night to just chill on the grass and enjoy the night. Was little tired next day at breakfast but this was so worth it!!
